First Public Appearance of the BC DeLorean Time Machine - Father's Day 2020
As we all know, 2020 has been a year that has posed lots of challenges and changes for everyone all over the world. A small example of those changes include the cancelation and postponement of Car Shows and public appearances that the BC DeLorean Time Machine + Other Movie Cars had been scheduled for this spring and summer.
We had been planning the launch of our website and social media to coincide with the unveiling of our DeLorean Time Machine and Other Movie Cars at the BC Classic and Custom Car show back in April. Obviously, things changed… That particular Car Show has been rescheduled for October (Check out our upcoming events page) and we will still be in attendance, and in fact, have a few more vehicles to showcase by then!
After learning about the change of date we sat quiet for about a month, working on the website and rethinking a plan for our launch. We knew that we couldn’t wait until October and needed to share our website and social media for everyone to see what we had been up to. We wanted to be able to share these vehicles with you and have them available for private rental if people were interested.
We approached a few local business and groups that we have worked with in the past. Stones Speed Shop, Certified Auto Sound and the Fraser Valley TV and Movie Car Facebook Page. We also approached a favourite business of ours, Toy Traders in Langley. They are Canada’s Largest Independent Toy and Collectible store and represent the exact collection of people who would appreciate Movie Car Replicas!
We had spoken to Toy Traders in the past about doing an event with them, as this year was their 25th Anniversary, but like most things that anniversary would not be celebrated the same way this year. Toy Traders had another idea. Why not have a safe, socially distanced, FREE photo opportunity outside the store for Father’s Day! We said, YES!
We worked hard to make sure the event was safe for everyone involved with a socially distanced line, separate area for the Toy Traders photographer and area to take your own photos. We also made a promise of this being the first of many appearances of the BC DeLorean Time Machine and other movie cars, as to not pressure people to come out if they did not feel comfortable.
The event was a success!! With a turnout of an estimated 800-1000 people filtered through the line up over the course of 6 hours. Everyone was kind and respected the safety measures in place. There was a great energy from everyone who came down for the photos!
This event became our launch for the Website and social media, as well as the First Public appearance of the BC DeLorean Time Machine and Marty’s 4X4. The photos taken by Toy Traders turned out great! The Langley Advance Times popped by to write a small article for the newspaper and a YouTuber came to make a video for his channel.
Thank you to Toy Traders for hosting the event and to Stones Speed Shop, Certified Auto Sound and Fraser Valley TV and Movie Cars for helping share the event information. Also, thank you to everyone who came out to the event and took a look at our website and social media pages!
We had a great time sharing our cars with all of you, and we can’t wait to do it again!
